What's on in Wakefield this February
The Wakefield festival of food, drink and Rhubarb is back to Wakefield city centre this February Half- term. From Friday to Sunday the 24th of February the city centre will make way for the large festival market. There will be lots of stalls selling Rhubarb theme treats, artisan breads, preserves and cheeses. Gins, wines and much more!
Ever since Wakefield was announced as part of the Rhubarb triangle the rhubarb harvest is greatly anticipated and local shops fill with delicious treats all things rhubarb. There will be a Gordon Ramsay lookalike, the Rhu-bar will be open till 10 pm as a comedy club, there will be cooking demonstrations from top chefs and much more. Snozone at Xcape
If the snow won’t come to us then we will come to it. You can book online for a family sledging session, come wrapped up warm with gloves and waterproof shoes the Snozone is chilly! Sledging sessions are 45 minutes for adults £12.99.
Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
If you fancy something more challenging, Snozone also has snowboarding and skiing lessons.
Pontefract Castle Dungeon Tours
Come and experience the medieval dungeon and read the graffiti that has been carved into the stone by prisoners and earlier by civil war soldiers who had been held prisoner there. This is only one of the amazing stories.

Farmer Copleys Barn Dance
Farmer Copleys will be holding an American Style Barn Dance. This is a fun family event for everyone. This night will be led by the LCS American Cowboy Band, there will be plenty of help to get you into the line dancing and a tasty American style buffet.
Friday the 16th of February from 7 pm until late.
Room on the Broom Adventure Trail
Wakefield council invites you to join them on the Room on the Broom adventure trail. This trail will take you through Anglers Country Park, this adventure trail will take you on a walk based on the bestselling children’s picture book Room on the Broom. There will be sculptures along the way guiding you through the park, there will be puzzles and rubbings along the way and for extra fun and games, you can purchase an explorer pack from the Discovery Centre for £2.
Please note that the visitor centre at Anglers Country Park will be closed on the 2nd and 3rd of February. The Adventure trail and country park is open 10:30 am-3: 30 pm closed Every Monday except bank holidays. Please check opening times before visiting.
