We caught up with Roundheigans RFC
This week we caught up with Roundhegians RFC to see how they were getting on this season.
We recently donated over £350 to the club so that they could buy new rugby balls to launch into their new training and match season.
The club is a huge asset to the community as it caters to a wide age range. Mini’s start from 6-12, juniors from 13 – 17 and then senior teams. Even if you don’t want to play you can still get involved as a volunteer, parents are encouraged to join in with the younger teams so come along and get involved.
The club maintains the tradition of providing post-match hospitality meals to players and there are always sausage and bacon sandwiches served with tea and coffee for spectators. The club has a recently built dining room and kitchen, this gives everyone a place to come and socialise after events and is what helps make this club an integral part of the community.
Stafford Smart Chairman of the club said, “We are delighted with how our partnership with Manning Stainton is developing this year. It’s a real morale-booster for our parents and volunteers when a local business is prepared to support a game that offers so much to the development of children”
John Sheader our Moortown Lettings Manager went along to visit the club, ”We’re delighted we can support such a great local club. And we look forward to helping them further in the future”.
Anyone wanting to get involved can contact Jim Malia, who is our Junior Chair or simply turn up at around 10.00am and ask for the relevant year group team manager. There are opportunities for adults to get involved as volunteers, even if they do not have children who play.
The last match was on 21st of October where the under 16’s played Harrogate and beat them 55-5. To see when the next match is on head over to the Roundheigans website www.roundhegians.com or follow Roundheigans RFC on Facebook Click Here.
