Top Tips to selling your home
Amy King our Branch Manager at Headingley branch gives us her top tips to selling you’re home…
Having worked for Manning Stainton for nearly 14 years I’d like to think I have a great understanding of what it takes to achieve the best possible price in the shortest time.
Follow the three D’s …
DECLUTTER, DIY and DECORATE.
Goes the refrain. Time and time again. So why then has it taken over 10 months to get my own house ready to go on the market? With busy jobs, kids, pets etc. trying to balance a clutter free home, redecorating and quality time is hard. In today image conscious world of Instagram, Pinterest and the beauty contest of the property websites it’s easy to feel like your own home isn’t going to compete. Just this week I went to value three homes; two where the vendors had put off getting a valuation as they were embarrassed and another where they were so embarrassed she wouldn’t even meet me and I met with a friend instead. Neither home was as bad as the owners thought, certainly not the worst I’ve seen, however I completely understood their nerves. Fortunately we were able to discuss the main points for action. Valuations with and without the work and put a realistic plan in place that will eventually help them to move.
So here’s what you should know:
1) No matter what the condition of your home if you’re thinking of moving just get us out to see you. We have highly experienced valuers who have truly seen it all. We will provide you with a valuation and advice without judgement.
2) Photos are not real life. We move things for the photos. Sometimes we move ALOT of things…and then we put them all back.
3) The market is buoyant, it’s a great time to sell so you may not have to do as much as you think you do.
Now I just have to take my own advice and get going.
