Summer is here and there is plenty going on around Leeds this August from Festivals to Car shows, there really is something for everyone, here are some of our top picks of unmissable events this August.
3rd August – Leeds Vintage Market Fair
Leeds Vintage Market Fair is back this August, opening its doors at 10 am til 4:30 pm expect the best of vintage clothing, accessories, jewellery and much more. Find them at Leeds Kirkgate Market on the 3rd August.
4th August - Leeds Pride
Leeds Pride is a colourful, fantastic day to celebrate the LBGT+ community. Leeds Pride is the biggest free pride event in the country! The celebrations kick off at 12 pm in Millennium Square. The parade begins at 2 pm through the city, where the festivities will then continue into the evening on Lower Briggate. You can expect to see Tulisa, Robin S, Sandi Thom and many more amazing acts to guarantee an amazing day!
7th August -Child-Friendly Leeds Live
Not to leave the kids out of the many music events around Leeds this August, The Child-Friendly Leeds Live is the biggest children’s festival in Yorkshire and takes place on August 7th. With popular children’s TV presenter performances, face painting, crafts, sensory play and much more, it will be a guaranteed hit with the kids- making you the most popular parents in town.
10th & 11th August- VW Festival
If you are the proud owner or like to admire classic VW’s in all their glory, Harewood House on 9th & 10th August is the place for you. The VW festival is home to club stands, vehicle displays, camping, entertainment, music and much more! The family-friendly atmosphere creates the perfect weekend.
11th August - Mindfulness in Movement Workshop
What better place to explore the art of mindfulness than the picturesque setting of Roundhay Park. The Mindfulness in Movement workshop comes to Roundhay Park on the 11th August between 12pm-1: 30 pm. Led by an experienced and skilled teacher, the workshop allows you to escape your busy lifestyle and focus on the awareness of your senses.
11th August – Leeds Ska & Mod Festival
Head to Millennium Square on Sunday 11th August for all things Ska & Mod, at Leeds Ska & Mod Festival. Acts such as The Jam, Bad Manners and The Dualers will be gracing the stage this year for an impressive day of music!
16th & 17th August - Ed Sheeran @ Roundhay Park
Arguably one of the most successful artists of the modern-day is coming to Roundhay Park in Leeds this August, for an unforgettable gig. If Ed Sheeran wasn’t enough, he is supported by The Darkness and chart-topper Lewis Capaldi! Hopefully, the sun will be shining for a great evening!
16th-18th August - Luna Theatre
Nothing says summer like an open-air theatre. Millennium Square is home to Luna Theatre this August; showing firm favourite’s Pretty woman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Mary Poppins Returns, over 3 days. Take your camping chairs, a blanket and a picnic for a night under the stars.
22nd August - England V Australia Test Match
The 2019 Ashes test match between Australia and England will be played at Headingley on the 22nd August, with the current cricket success in England, this is sure to be a great match and equally great atmosphere!
21st-25th August– Leeds Festival
The ever-popular bank holiday weekender Leeds festival is back! For all the early birds, the festival opens its doors on Wednesday 21st, whilst the main acts begin on Friday 23rd. With huge names such as the Foo Fighters, 1975, Post Malone and Royal Blood all taking to the main stage, Leeds Festival is set to live up to its great name once again!
23rd-27th August –Leeds Opera Festival
If opera is your preferred genre, head to Leeds Opera Festival this August. There are a variety of events and performances taking place across Leeds over the weekend, as well as an opportunity to ‘come and sing’ at HEART in Headingley.
