Red Door Is Key To School's Fundraising Success

Manning Stainton has helped a local primary school raise funds for a new outside quiet area.

The Morley branch of the area’s leading estate agent took its famous red door to the Morley Victoria Primary School summer fair where parents and pupils tried to open it by picking the lucky key. All proceeds from the game were donated to the school.

The first person to open the door and win the star prize, a fantastic Samsung Galaxy tablet computer, was Year 4 pupil Lilly Anderson who said she was ’really excited!’  

The annual summer fair is one of the school’s major fundraising activities, organised by the Friends and Parents Association (PFA). All the children were actively involved and each year group ran their own stall or game including Hook- a-Duck, a coconut shy and a beat the goalie competition. There was also a tombola, book raffle and a bun sale.

Julia Britton, Deputy Head Teacher, says: ‘The summer fair is a real team effort with everyone pulling together.  This includes our friends at Manning Stainton who have been such kind and generous supporters of a number of our initiatives including the purchase of a defibrillator and a new television for our reception area.

‘The money raised from the fair will go into our general school funds with some having already been ear marked for a new quiet area in a section of the playground which will really enhance the children’s learning experience.’                                                       

Paul Cooke, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch on Queen Street in Morley adds: ‘It was great to see so many families and friends in attendance which helped create a wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Hopefully the final total raised will reflect all the hard work which has clearly gone into staging the event.’  

Manning Stainton helped the school through its on-going Community Support Programme which helps worthwhile organisations right across the communities in which it operates.
