Penny Is The Pride Of Rothwell
A year 4 pupil at Rothwell Victoria Junior School was among the prize winners in a county wide drawing competition which attracted over 500 entries.
Eight year old Penny Corbett’s colourful entry impressed the judges enough to secure second place in the ‘Draw your Dream Tree House’ competition organised by estate agent Manning Stainton and open to children from schools across West and North Yorkshire.
Her vision of the ultimate tree house included swings, a pink slide, sand pit and a trampoline. It also included the well-known Manning Stainton sold board!
Penny received a £50 Toys R Us voucher for her endeavours which she says ‘she can’t wait to spend’, while the school received a cheque for £300.
Head Teacher, Amanda Burrow, says: ‘We are all incredibly proud of Penny. Like every one of our wonderful pupils she has great imagination and has demonstrated this perfectly through her drawing.
‘The school is currently improving and relocating the library and the money Penny has won on our behalf will go towards the cost of delivering this.’
Gerry Downs, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch on Marsh Street in Rothwell says: ‘The quality of entries has been fantastic so for Penny to be among the prize winners is some achievement. It was lovely to come into school to meet her and at the same time hear about the exciting plans for the library.’
The drawing competition is part of Manning Stainton’s ongoing programme of support to worthwhile organisations within the communities in which it operates.
During 2016 the company helped over 50 separate groups as well as raising money for its chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Rothwell branch of Manning Stainton is open 7 days a week and the team is ready to take customer calls from 8am – 8pm every day. It is one of 19 Residential Sales and Lettings branches across West and North Yorkshire helping people move.
