A Garforth school girl has come top of the class in a county wide drawing competition organised by estate agent Manning Stainton.
11 year old Olivia Hall, a pupil at Strawberry Fields Primary School, won the Draw your Dream House competition with a colourful creation which featured an edible house, made up of all her favourite sweets and ice creams.
Olivia said: ‘I love the thought of living in a house that you can eat and that was how I came up with the idea for my drawing. It is amazing to think that I have won the whole competition!’
The prize for first place was a Samsung tablet and the school received a cheque for £500. They plan to use the unexpected windfall to revamp the school library and purchase new books.
Headteacher Susan Mumby said: ‘Thanks to Olivia’s amazing artistic talents we can now give our library a much needed make-over.
‘We will make sure she is fully involved in deciding which books we should buy and that her achievement is suitably recorded. Everyone at the school is incredibly proud of her. ‘
Second place went to Rayyan Hussain who attends Roundhay Primary and in third place was Shannay Verensky, a year three pupil at Featherbank Primary in Horsforth. Rayyan and Shannay both received a £50 one4all multi-store gift card and the schools received a cheque for £300 and £150 respectively.
Steve Riley, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch on Main Street in Garforth, said: ’We received well over 100 entries from schools across the county which makes Olivia’s success all the more impressive.
‘The competition is part of our on-going programme of support for schools, clubs and organisations in the communities in which we operate.’
The Garforth branch of Manning Stainton is open seven days a week and the team is ready to take customer calls from 8am-8pm every day. It is one of 19 Residential Sales and Lettings branches across West and North Yorkshire helping people move.
