Money Pours In At Coffee Morning Fundraiser
Manning Stainton has supported a coffee morning which raised over £1,600 for the Brittle Bone Society.
The area’s leading estate agent sponsored the printing of the tickets for the event as part of its on-going Community Support Programme.
The morning of coffee, tea and delicious homemade cakes was organised by Joanna Cannon, with proceeds going towards the overall amount her friend Caroline Nicholls is hoping to raise when she runs the London Marathon on April 23rd.
Joanna says: ‘Caroline, who has never run a marathon before, is attempting to raise £3000 for the society! Thanks to the generous support of family, friends and local businesses such as Manning Stainton the coffee morning was a great success and should help her reach this amazing total.’
The Brittle Bone Society is the sole organisation set up to address the needs of people born with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) in the UK and Republic of Ireland and also provides practical and emotional support to the families of those who have the rare condition.
Joanna who herself was born with OI explains: ‘The society do an incredible job providing equipment, offering advice, conducting research and creating a community where we can share experiences and enjoy fun times.
‘I also have a son who has OI and the society has provided funding for a suitable wheelchair which enables him to fully participate in activities in and outside of school. It is because of the positive impact the society has had on me and my family that I am so keen to help Caroline.’
Louise Lawrence, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch on Shadwell Lane in Moortown says: ‘We are delighted to be able to contribute to this incredibly worthwhile cause. What Caroline is taking on is nothing short of remarkable and we wish her all the luck in the world.’
