Manning Stainton has helped the market town of Wetherby light up for Christmas.
Colleagues from the local branch of the area’s leading estate agent were out in force at this year’s lights switch on to raise money for the 2018 appeal.
People were keen to try their luck opening the company’s famous red door and win one of several great prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Manning Stainton also handed out selection boxes to the excited children to make sure no one left empty handed.
The popular event was supported by Wetherby Business Association, Handpicked Local and Wetherby Town Council. An exciting evening of entertainment had been organised including performances by the City of Leeds Pipe Band and Stagecoach, along with a number of food stalls and various fairground rides.
The culmination of the evening was the switching on of the lights which was performed by Tommy Cannon, one half of famed comedy duo Cannon and Ball.
Steve Riley, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch in the Market Place, said: ‘It was great to be part of this event which brought everyone together and kicked-off the festive season in fine style.
‘As a business at the heart of the community we are delighted that the money we raised from our red door game will be used to make next year’s lights even better.’
Steve Kay, one of the organisers of the event, added: ‘I would like to thank the group of volunteers who worked tirelessly to erect the trees and lights and also local companies like Manning Stainton for their kind support.
‘Thanks are also due to the wonderful people of Wetherby who turned out in vast numbers, spent so generously, and helped make the evening such a success.’
Manning Stainton supported the Wetherby Christmas Lights Appeal through its on-going Community Support Programme. In the last 12 months the company has donated in excess of £50,000 to over 50 schools, community groups and local clubs including Sicklinghall Cricket Club and Collingham Junior Football Club .
The company’s Wetherby branch is open seven days a week and the team is ready to take customer calls from 8am-8pm every day. It is one of 19 Residential Sales and Lettings branches across West and North Yorkshire helping people move.
