Between Bramley and Headingley is the increasing popular suburb of Kirkstall. Kirkstall has become a hot spot for investors, families and students alike. The famous Kirkstall Abbey was founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. The monastery took over 75 years to construct before being closed during Henry 8ths reign in the Dissolution of the Monasteries. By the 19th century, Kirkstall thrived as part of the influential coal industry, before becoming a suburb popular with professionals similar to modern-day.

Amenities in Kirkstall have significantly developed in recent years, with the addition of a Kirkstall Bridge retail park bringing high street names to a suburb outside of the city centre. Kirkstall also benefits from Cardigan Fields; a complex of restaurants, bars, cinema, bowling and much more. There are a number of supermarkets in the area including Morrisons, Aldi and Asda keeping grocery shopping easy and local. Alongside the many high street names, Kirkstall is also home to a range of independent cafes, shops and restaurants. From the ever-popular Dos Amigos Tapas to the popular polish kitchen Smak you won’t be short of places to eat and drink in Kirkstall. For family days out, look no further than Kirkstall, make the most of a rainy day at the likes of Jump arena or Laser Zone, or for the drier days take a walk around Kirkstall Abbey or have a kick about at Goals.

The Kirkstall Forge development sits just 3.5 miles outside of the city centre, set of 57 acres and has plans to boast 1050 houses and apartments, alongside retail and leisure amenities, bringing new residents and a new look to the property market in Kirkstall. 


Situated just a few miles outside of the city centre, Kirkstall offers efficient links to the city centre and surrounding suburbs.  The A65 road runs through Kirkstall offering bus links to Leeds, Guiseley, Yeadon and Ilkley amongst many stops in between.   The introduction of Kirkstall Forge Train Station in 2016 has enabled easy access to Leeds and Bradford, whilst Headingley Station is just a short distance from Kirkstall offering efficient links to Harrogate and York.
