Gold Mark School Athletes Look Like Winners
Athletes at a Leeds primary school look like winners thanks to the support of its local branch of Manning Stainton.
The community-minded company has supplied colourful hoodies, complete with the school badge, to pupils in Year 5 and 6 at Alwoodley Primary School to wear during competitions.
The school takes sport very seriously and holds the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Mark which recognises its overall commitment to games and physical education. It is one of only a handful of schools in the area to have been given this accolade.
Alwoodley Primary participates in a host of competitions and events throughout the academic year, competing against other schools in a range of sports including netball, hockey, athletics and skipping.
Jessica Hill, Assistant Head Teacher and PE Coordinator, says: ‘The children are proud to represent the school and take particular pride in being part of a team.
‘Now, thanks to the generosity of Manning Stainton, we can turn up to the competitions looking like winners and hopefully continue to put in performances to match our appearance.’
Louise Lawrence, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch in Moortown, comments: ‘We were very impressed when we heard about the sporting achievements of the school and had no hesitation in sponsoring the new tops as part of our on-going Community Support Programme.’
During 2016 the company made donations totalling £50,000 to 50 separate groups and raised £25,000 for its own chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Moortown branch of Manning Stainton is open 7 days a week and the team is ready to take customer calls from 8am – 8pm every day. It is one of 19 Residential Sales and Lettings branches across West and North Yorkshire helping people move.
