Friends of Roundhay Park
Work to create a brand new playground within Roundhay Park is set to start on the 5th of November. Friends of Roundhay Park, the group behind the venture, are hoping the playground will be completed in time for Christmas. The total raised by the appeal is £159,865 which surpassed the initial target of £100,000. This means Friends of Roundhay Park can exceed their original draft and make a wonderful, playground designed to holster the sense of community in the local area.
This comes after the original playground was opening in August 2012.
Mum-of-two and Roundhay Playground Appeal Committee member Sara Dawson, said
“I’m really proud that as a community we have made this happen. I know we have driven it, but there’s been lots of support from the wider community. Without the support of companies, like Manning Stainton, we would not have been able to raise enough money . We are incredibly grateful for their immediate engagement and enthusiasm for the campaign.”
“I’m really excited. The new Lakeside playground will be bright and colourful. I can’t wait to see children enjoying it!
“The playground is used by a lot of families from all over Leeds. Given the iconic nature of Roundhay Park it should have a first class playground. When the new playground is installed, people will come to the park with their children specifically to use it, whereas at the moment people go to other playgrounds because the equipment is so poor.”
Members of our Moortown Lettings, Moortown sales and Oakwood Branches came to deliver our contribution to the appeal;
Louise Lawrence from our Moortown Branch said, “We can't wait to see what the new playground will look like. Contributing to our local community is a cause that we love to get involved in. For many of us it’s our home towns or local places so we are always happy to get involved. ”
