A year three pupil at Featherbank Primary School in Horsforth was among the prize winners in a dream home drawing competition organised by estate agent Manning Stainton.
Seven year old Shannay Verensky impressed the judges with her vision of the perfect house which included a giant slide and swimming pool, and was surrounded by lots of colourful fruit trees.
The house was set in the aptly named Tree House Close where Shannay says; ‘Everybody has lots of fun and the sun never stops shining.’
Shannay won a £50 one4all multi-store gift card for her efforts and the school received a cheque for £150. The money will be used to fund a half day writing workshop for reception, year one, two and three pupils with local author and poet Nick Toczek.
Headteacher Lorraine Scudder said: ‘I am so proud of all our talented children who took part in the competition.
‘The money Shannay has won for the school means we can now hold the writing workshop which aims to inspire the children to become authors of the future.’
The Draw your Dream Home competition attracted well over 100 entries from schools across the county and was organised by Manning Stainton as part of its on-going Community Support Programme.
Sarah Joseph, Manager of the Manning Stainton branch on New Road Side in Horsforth, said: ‘The overall standard was incredibly high and the children clearly have wonderful imaginations.
‘However, Shannay’s entry really stood out and I am delighted that the prize money is being put to such good use.’
The Horsforth branch of Manning Stainton is open seven days a week and the team is ready to take customer calls from 8am-8pm every day. It is one of 19 Residential Sales and Lettings branches across West and North Yorkshire helping people move.
