Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Where nature meets art. Well worth a visit and an excellent spot for a picnic. Yorkshire Sculpture Park is one of the world’s leading open-air galleries. The Sculpture Park hosts events for children over the school holidays; Tuesdays are outdoor sculpture building and forest Fridays. Forest Fridays could be anything from bushcraft days, making woodland tools to weaving bird feeders. Be sure and check out the events that are on in the coming months.
Enigma Rooms Wakefield
If you fancy something a bit more challenging or you need a rainy day activity Enigma rooms could be perfect for you. It’s fun for all the family but persons under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Enigma rooms is a 60-minute live escape experience. You can choose from a number of scenarios and on arrival, your game of choice will be explained to you, and then you will be locked in for 60 minutes. You will then have to follow the clues and solve the puzzles to escape. 93% of reviews on Trip Advisor are excellent so Enigma rooms are definitely worth a visit.
Seaside in the city! 11th-12th August
The beach is returning to Wakefield! This August there will be a beach in Wakefield City Centre so bring your flip flops and buckets and spades because this event is free! Come and meet Peppa Pig who will be coming to say hello twice a day over the weekend. There will also be Donkey rides, sand art, Punch and Judy, market stalls and street food.
Pugneys Country Park
There is lots to do this summer at Pugney’s Country Park including, Bike hire, mini train, outdoor play area, nature reserve, bird hides and BBQ pits. There are picnic tables, a dog wash area and the ice cream van usually parks up near the café. Pugneys Country Park is fully accessible for disabled and is open every day until 6:30 pm.
