Strong Housing Market in Leeds and Wakefield

Yorkshire Evening Post - 9th March 2007

February saw a strong market across Leeds and Wakefield with sales matching February 2006 despite three interest rate rises in the intervening period.

Areas which have shown the biggest leap in sales compared to 2006 include Morley and Horsforth.

Prices appear to be holding steady but some upward pressure is to be expected as the number of properties available across Leeds and Wakefield is at a relatively low number and down by approximately 30% when compared with January 2006.

The approach of compulsory Home Information Packs (HIPs) has not yet seen the anticipated rush of houses coming onto the market before the deadline on the 1st June.  It has been felt that our sellers will wish to avoid the threat of a £500 bill for preparing the HIP.  Maybe the rush will start after the Government releases its final regulations on the 29th March 2007.
