Finally Banks & Governments Work Together for Home Owners in Leeds and Wakefield

Following Gordon Brown’s announcement that the Government will allow homeowners facing repossession to defer their mortgage interest repayments, Peter Bolton King, Chief Executive of NAEA, said:
“The Prime Minister’s decision to underwrite mortgage repayments for the thousands of homeowners currently facing repossession is extremely welcome at what is a difficult time for many. The fact that the eight major lenders are on board is an essential move in making this scheme viable. Finally the banks and government are working together to offer real assistance to the homeowner.
“However, there is clearly more to be done and the NAEA looks forward to hearing the measures the Government has in store for first time buyers. New lending will be vital in kick starting the housing market once again.”
