Massive Rise in New Property For Sale in Leeds and Wakefield
20th March 2007
The first two weeks of March has seen the fastest rate of properties coming onto the housing market across Leeds and Wakefield for over three years. A disappointing start to the year in terms of the properties coming onto the market has now been eclipsed as the number of people deciding to move really accelerates. If the second two weeks of March carry on at the same rate March 2007 could well be a record month in terms of new property for sale.
What exactly is the cause cannot be specifically determined yet but we feel it likely that increased publicity regarding the proposed introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs), which become mandatory on the 1st June 2007, is a likely factor. People wishing to avoid what could be in excess of £500 added to their property move costs look like they are starting the ball rolling now.
Comments on the regulations are due to be published on the 29th March and, if this date is confirmed, we anticipate a rush of new properties coming onto the market throughout April and May which is excellent news for buyers of property in the Leeds, Wakefield and Wetherby areas as an increased choice of available property is always healthy for the market.
Any further developments relating to HIPs will be published on this website.
