Dismal Days in June for property for sale
Yorkshire Evening Post - 6th July 2007
Could it be that a thoroughly dismal June has had more effect on the housing market than the abortive start of Home Information Packs, a further interest rate rise or the first run of the housing market ladder being so difficult to reach for first time buyers.
June has seen a mixed set of results, some areas of Leeds showing high levels of buyer activity in terms of viewings and sales these including Morley, Pudsey, Adel, Moortown and Crossgates, with other areas seeing buyer interest below average levels. There is certainly alot of property for sale.
There can be no doubt that the summer months are going to be disrupted by a long term dismal weather forecast, the threat of another interest rate rise, the upcoming school holiday period and the first new deadline for the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) for property with four or more bedrooms.
However, the Leeds and Wakefield economies as a whole continues to flourish with historically low unemployment levels and very significant number of people moving to the city for new employment. This gives us confidence that the medium to long term prospects for the housing market in Leeds, Wakefield, Wetherby, Guiseley, Rothwell, MoreleyHorsforth and Pudsey are good.
