4000 Mortgage products… across over 200 Lenders

Mortgages Director Steve Murgatroyd reveals why his department is now probably Leeds’ and Wakefield's biggest independent mortgage broker.

With 20 experienced mortgage advisors based across the Manning Stainton branch network from Wetherbny to Wakefield, and a department tally of over 30 staff, Manning Stainton  Mortgages delivered over 1800 mortgages to clients during 2006 with a combined value of £207m.

“There is a bit of a misconception that we only provide this independent mortgage advice  service for Manning Stainton clients – whether they’re buying or selling,” says Steve.

“In fact, any member of the public at any time can contact us – even if it’s simply to check that their current mortgage deal is the right one for their particular circumstances.If not they can consider re-mortgaging. We have access to over 200 mortgage lenders – a good many of whom will not be household names to the general public – providing us, and therefore our clients, with access to over 4000 mortgageschemes.”

“It’s fair to say we would obtain a mortgage for most people, including those where special circumstances might apply.”

Investment is the key, Steve says, and the company has invested heavily in sophisticated technology which tracks  rates and every special offer every day: -

“There are specialist lenders in the market who don’t deal directly with the public, and the first thing our  mortgage advisers do every  morning is to track the current mortgage offers which best suit  clients seeking mortgage advice. There could be numerous new mortgage products available to us overnight and it’s important that we factor all this information into our system immediately and advise clients accordingly.”
