Vacuuming up the Cash for Kids

“Come on then give me a mint!” Two slightly nervous ladies with Intavac Boy and Michael Stainton. |

With some help from a successful Yorkshire-based racehorse, together with his regular jockey by the name of (what else?) M. Stainton, it was odds-on that Manning Stainton’s Oakwood branch in Leeds would raise plenty of cash on a recent Race Night there.
£3000 to be exact, taking the company’s target to buy a vital scanner for the Children’s Heart Surgery Unit at Leeds General Infirmary to within £5000 of the £20,000 required.
The Unit treats babies and young children with heart defects across West Yorkshire.
All Manning Stainton branches are taking part in the fund-raising through a variety of sponsored events and, with the winning post set for the end of December, the cash should be raised at a canter.
Local businessman Bernard Kellett volunteered his horse Intavac Boy to help with publicity and arranged for Oakwood Manager Helen Taylor and Branch
Co-Ordinator Tracie Wormley to visit trainer Simon Griffiths’ stable at Easingwold near York to meet the equine star himself.
The horse is named after Bernard’s Company – Intavac – which supplies vacuum cleaner bags and specialist paper sacks to retailers throughout the UK.
Says Helen: -
“We were absolutely delighted to raise so much for a very deserving cause and our thanks go to Bernard, his trainer and of course Michael Stainton for helping. If we look slightly nervous it’s because we’ve never been quite so close to a racehorse before!”
