The Mayor & Mayoress of Wakefield Cllrs Allan and Pat Garbutt took a big step late last year - right off the top of Wakefield Cathedral, to raise funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice and Cystic Fibrosis UK.
Built during the 14th & 15th centuries, the cathedral boasts a spire 247ft (75 metres) tall - the highest in Yorkshire and it’s quite a trek up the winding internal staircase with a SOLD board in your hands as Wakefield branch manager Dawn Lavelle will testify!
Helped on their first-time abseil with a cheque from our Community Fund, Cllr Garbutt said it was encouraging to see a thriving company like Manning Stainton participating in the vibrant Wakefield economy.
