Housing Market Juggernaut Rumbles On In Leeds
Yorkshire Evening Post - 9th February 2007
The economic dynamism of Leeds continues to drive the housing market forward despite recent interest rate rises.
January 2007 has seen a huge increase in the numbers of properties valued by Manning Stainton when compared with January 2006. Hundreds of new properties have been placed on the market for sale to satisfy an even higher number of potential buyers listed on our database.
Sales levels are almost identical to 2006 across Leeds and Wakefield.
A very useful property market indicator is our new website. This shows us on a daily basis the number of visitors it receives and we have seen a steady increasing number culminating in over 4,000 unique visitors on the last day of the month alone.
As we move forward into 2007 we believe that the supply of new properties coming onto the market for sale will increase as house sellers seek to avoid the necessity of a Home Information Pack (HIP) which become mandatory on the 1st June 2007. Although the requirement for a Home Condition Report has been removed from the HIP, despite being of dubious value to a buyer, will in some form or other increase costs for house sellers.
The final Government regulations relating to this will not be published until the end of March.
