Estate agent Manning Stainton’s Managing Director, Russell Manning, became the first “Corporate Companion” of Emmaus Leeds – receiving the accolade from the organisation’s UK President Terry Waite CBE, at a recent celebration evening.Emmaus, with 400 Communities worldwide and 22 in the UK, is a charitable business helping homeless people to help themselves by providing a home and work in a supportive environment.
In Leeds, income from the business – a second-hand furniture store and coffee shop – helps the Community become financially self sustaining and a significant percentage of the homeless go from Emmaus Leeds directly into employment.
Said Russell: -
“It’s not enough to throw loose change at the homeless issue any more; Corporate Companions are business partners who recognise the economic and social advantages in turning benefit-dependent homeless people into contributing members of society.
We’re proud to be involved with Emmaus.”
