What things should I consider as my moving day nears?
- When you are confident you will be proceeding with your property sale or purchase, think about removals.
- Let your employer know, as you may need to book time off.
- Arrange for any school transfers or registrations.
- Arrange for utilities at your new home.
- Confirm with the seller how to operate the central heating and other appliances.
- Confirm with the seller their current telephone provider and arrange connection.

Do you have any tips to make moving day easier?
- Ensure nothing is taken out of your house that should not be and you are happy with your packing inventory.
- Ensure the water, gas and electricity are turned off and final meter readings taken.
- Inform your bank, building society, DVLA etc of your new address.
- Ensure you have made arrangements to obtain your new house keys.
- Ensure everyone knows how to get to your new home.
- Have your mobile phone charger handy.
- It will be a long day, so keep a kettle, mugs, coffee, tea bags, sugar, a carton of milk and some teaspoons handy.
- A variety of snacks is also a good idea as your kitchen may not be functioning on removal day.
- Confirm alarm details with the seller.
- Check that all rooms, wardrobes, cupboards and kitchen units are empty and all lights are turned off.
- Ensure all windows and doors are closed and locked.
Do you have any Last minute tips?
- Have a list of useful telephone numbers handy.
- Have some cash to cover tips and emergencies.
- Keep a small box handy containing items such as: screwdriver, penknife, pen and paper, matches or lighter, light bulbs, candles, first aid kit, headache tablets, copies of all the important documents.
- Finally, a bottle of your favourite tipple and enough glasses to toast your new home and many happy years there.
