1st time buyers troubled
First time buyers are looking troubled and this is a situation that looks set to continue well into the new year. Information from the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) put the average first time buyer borrowing 3.29 times their annual household income in November last year. This figure has risen from 3.27 in October, and from 3.08 the previous year.
Record Lending in October
The council of mortgage lenders reports that gross lending on residential property hit a new monthly record in October at a level of £30.3 billion, according to the latest data. Mortgage lending was up by 4% on the September figure of £29.2 billion, but down a % from the overall record of £33 billion in August. Mortgage lending was up 12% in comparison to October last year (27 billion).
