According to a survey from Barclays Wealth London and Hampshire have the greatest concentrations of rich people in the UK. 

It will be a surprise to many, but not to Manning Stainton’s Fine & Country Division, to learn that Yorkshire is third on the list, beating areas such as Middlesex and Surrey into fourth and fifth place, followed by Lancashire.

“The market in properties valued at £1 million plus has been extremely strong in the last year” says Fine & Country Director Andrew Butler which rather backs up the findings of this report. 

Barclays’ Survey found that the source of riches is now more likely to be due to business success than inherited wealth.  If current trends continue the UK will have the highest concentration of households with cash and equities of more than £515,000 in the G7 group of major industrialised nations in 10 years' time.

However, news which may directly affect the views of luxury properties is that many wealthy people stated that they are planning a move aboard to find a better lifestyle, lower taxes, and cheaper property. 

The report states that wealth is now truly open to everyone with enterprise and endeavour, the main route to riches.  This is testament to the booming Leeds economy which continues to attract high net worth individuals to the city.
