Wakefield firm buys Jex Acquisition Proves a Success for Buoyant Engineering firm Redhall
8th October 2007
Specialist Wakefield engineering company Redhall Group reported strong growth over the year and said annual results should be slightly ahead of market expectations.
Wakefield - based Redhall said each of its three operating divisions had seen a material improvement in trading during the year to September 30.
In June Redhall bought Jex Engineering Company for £12m in a move that extended its operations into the food, pharmaceutical and chemical markets.
Redhall recently stated that Jex had been successfully integrated into the group and was performing in line with management expectations.
Grimsby-based Jex has a number of high profile blue chip customers including Cadbury's, Kellogg's, Nestle, Corus, Dunlop, Smith & Nephew, Procter & Gamble, Boots and PepsiCo.
It manages complex installations, maintenance and projects across Europe and has extended Redhall's geographic reach into the North-East of England.
Following the deal Redhall is now focused on three main areas – nuclear services, engineering services and specialist manufacturing, which each account for around a third of the group's turnover.
In the nuclear services division, the acquisition of the Steels business earlier in the year has added the AWE Aldermaston account.
Redhall said Steels had won a three-year contract worth around £9m for the supply of direct labour, management services and third party procurement to the Atomic Weapons Establishment.
Redhall expects to announce its final results on December 6.
