German Firm Invests in the Wakefield District
9th December 2007
German manufacturer Chemowerk GmbH, based near Stuttgart, has committed to setting up its new UK subsidiary near Pontefract in West Yorkshire
The company manufactures glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) containers and automotive body parts at three plants in southern Germany and the Czech Republic and already has a trading subsidiary in France.
Chemo, as they are known, have identified the UK as another highly important market for their container business and have initially established a sales office in Featherstone, with the help of first and Wakefield Council, prior to setting up full distribution facilities in the near future.
Chemo’s product range includes tanks for storage and transport of petrol, diesel, oil, AdBlue, water and other liquids up to 30,000 litres, trays and sumps for safe oil and chemical storage, winter grit bins and other general purpose containers, filling a gap in the market where, in general, there is currently only a choice of rotomoulded plastic or steel solutions.
GRP offers advantages in terms of lighter weight, chemical and corrosion resistance, stability and repairability that are not always possible with other materials.
Chemo is the market leader in German-speaking Europe for tanks and winter service products, where they have been serving agriculture, industry and public services for over 40 years.
Richard Brown, General Manager of Chemo UK, said:
"It is exciting to be able to introduce some great products into the UK, however we are not starting from nothing. Companies such as Fuel Proof, AutoDrain, Dale Process Engineering, Crow Environmental, Fentex and Peacock Salt already provide specialist outlets into some sectors, so we will continue to build a network of specialist distributors throughout the UK and Ireland, offering the quality of service as well as the product for which Chemo dealers throughout Europe are renowned.
"It is great to have the backing of a stable, well managed company such as Chemo that is not in a hurry but committed to providing consistent, long term investment and growth.“
