Energy Performance Certificates
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) were first introduced in October 2008 and are required on any building in the social or rented sector let to a new tenant.
An EPC must be made available and free of charge to prospective tenants. Its purpose is to show the energy performance of the property they may be thinking of renting The EPC must be made available at the earliest opportunity and any delay in providing an EPC will cause a knock on delay in enabling the property to be marketed.
EPCs are valid for 10 years and can be reused as many times as required within that period. It is not necessary to commission a new EPC each time there is a change of tenancy.
At Manning Stainton, we have our own fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessors who produce the Energy Performance Certificates.
We expect there to be little or no delay in ensuring that a property To Let with Manning Stainton is placed on the market with a compliant, Energy Performance Certificate.
If you would like further details on how to obtain an EPC please contact your nearest Lettings Branch.
